Waffles are one of my favorite breakfast treats. Sweet and savory, a nice crisp outside with a warm soft inside. It can be challenging to get that right texture though, so I'm gonna give you my little secret to help you out, shh...
Some important notes, using room temperature milk and eggs helps keep your butter from hardening when you combine your wet ingredients, and gives you that nice soft inside you want!
Preheat your waffle iron to its designated setting.
Add all your dry ingredients (except sugar, I don't know how to explain to you that sugar isn't dry haha) in a medium sized bowl and sift together with a whisk.
Meanwhile in a separate bowl, combine all your wet ingredients (yes, including sugar!) and combine thoroughly.
Make a well in the middle of your dry ingredients, and pour your wet mixture in. Stir until just combined. You don't want to overmix here!
Grease your waffle iron with cooking spray. Pour about ⅓ cup of the batter onto your waffle iron (the actual amount will depend on the size of your appliance), and cook according to the manufacturers directions.
To keep waffles warm while you make the rest, put in a warm oven set to 170 degrees
Serve warm!
